THE CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF DOUGLAS
PLANNING COMMISSION WORKSHOP MEETING
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 6, 2008
1. The meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM by Chairperson
Piggins.
2. Roll Call: Dave Burdick, Ron Dellartino, Christopher
Nern, Alexa Urquhart, Karen VanPelt, John Piggins
ALSO IN ATTENDANCE: Larry Nix, Williams and Works
ABSENT: Renee Waddell
3. New Business
A. Planning Commission workshop and discussion of the revised draft
Zoning Ordinance. Commissioners are requested to bring the draft zoning
ordinance in the white, three-ring binder distributed at the January
16, 2008 regular meeting of the Planning Commission. The portion of
the draft ordinance currently under review has been reviewed and approved
by the City’s Zoning Code Ad-hoc Committee for comments and
suggestions from the Planning Commission.
Larry Nix guided the discussion of the draft with the
Commissioners using a Presentation Board with the ordinance language
displayed from the computer and projector. Changes could be made as
comments were discussed. The Planning Commission reviewed Article
I: Intent and Purpose; and Article II: Definitions.
4. Hear from the audience
There were no comments from the audience.
5. Commissioner Comments
Dellartino said that citizen input on the Zoning Ordinance
changes is important. Is it feasible? Nix said that there could be
public input through Open Houses, Public Workshops, and other ways.
Nern wondered if there was something to cover a place
like a Cabaret or a place with live music.
6. The meeting was adjourned at 9:05 PM.
